The Genoa Street Food Tour is a guided walking experience designed to introduce you to the city’s most iconic street food and everyday eating habits. The tour takes place in Genoa’s historic center, following its narrow caruggi and lively streets, and lasts approximately 3 hours. A local guide leads the group through neighborhoods and food spots that are popular with residents and often unknown to visitors.

The experience focuses on informal, traditional food enjoyed on the go or in historic takeaway shops. The tour includes several tastings served at carefully selected venues, offering a generous amount of food that can replace a light meal.

Tastings may vary depending on season and availability, but typical street food tastings include:

Fried squids: Genoa is a historic harbor city with a strong seafood tradition. Tender squid is lightly coated and fried until crisp, offering a delicate flavor that reflects the city’s close connection to the sea.
Classic focaccia with extra virgin olive oil: The original Genoese focaccia, soft inside and lightly crisp on the outside, topped with high-quality olive oil and enjoyed daily by locals in bakeries across the city.
Savoury pies: Traditional baked pies such as vegetable or onion pies, tasted inside an old sciamadda, a historic takeaway shop dating back to the early 20th century.
Focaccia with cheese: Two very thin layers of dough filled with creamy stracchino cheese from Recco, baked until hot and melting, one of the most beloved Ligurian specialties.
Artisan ice cream: Small-batch gelato enjoyed in a selected gourmet gelateria, featuring classic flavors alongside creative combinations made with high-quality ingredients.
